Without a doubt, our favorite event of the summer is Crazy Days. We pull out all the stops and, frankly, get a little bit crazy about putting yarn, books, tools, needles and gifts on sale. We plan to fill the sidewalk and the shop with great deals that are easy on your budget but still loaded with inspiration. Helpful hint: bring your patterns with you or at least an idea of how much yardage you need if you are planning specific projects. This is a rain or shine, hot or cold event. There will be tents on the sidewalk but if the weather doesn't cooperate we'll just move everything inside.

Please DON'T come for any Early Bird Specials. We won't open for business until 10am on Thursday. We know it's hard; you're so anxious to buy yarn but it takes us a long time to get everything out and we just can't start selling until 10am.

Knitted Rugs are fabulous STASH BUSTER. But even the best stash needs some enhancements like crazy novelty yarn to make a perfect knitted rug. Bring your stash or at least swatches and yardage and we'll help you choose some wild and crazy yarns to add. The best part is that all of our red tag yarns will be on sale for 5 cents a gram. WOW!! (The 5 cent sale is from 5-9pm only) That means that you can get a small ball for $2.50 and a large, 100 gram ball, for $5. It doesn't matter what the original price was, as long as it has a red tag it's yours for 5 cents a gram. Keep in mind that you need about 3000 yards to make a 2' by 3' rug. You also need a super large circular knitting needle (size 36) which, of course, we sell.

Each year we use the Crazy Days Sale to retire yarns that have been around for a few years in order to make space for the new fall season yarns. Carri ordered a lot of yarn this year so we really have to get crazy about putting things on sale. In addition to our sidewalk sale, there will be a wide selection of very high end hand dyed yarns on sale inside the shop (we're really not supposed to advertise which ones they are. Let's put it this way, it's going to be well worth your time to come over.

Ready, Set, Knit Cables: Learn to Cable with 20 Designs and 10 Projects

For the second year in a row, Carri Hammett (the owner of the shop) has a new book hitting yarn shops and book stores nation wide. Her new book is called Ready, Set, Knit Cables. If you’ve never knit cables, this is a perfect book because it teaches you cables from beginner to advanced. If you’re a confident cable knitter you’ll still love Carri’s book because the projects are so unique and beautiful.

Shop owner, Carri Hammett, is the author of two books. Scarves and Shawls for Yarn Lovers, is available nationwide but we hope you buy it from us. The book features 20 different projects all knit from the kind of scrumptious yarns that Coldwater Collaborative is famous for. The book can be used by beginners but experienced knitters will also find it very inspirational. Carri would be happy to autograph the book for you; stop into the shop or call to reserve your copy. Directions: From Highway 494, drive West on Highway 7. Continue on Highway 7 until you reach Highway 19 (Oak Street). Turn right on Highway 19 and drive one block to the traffic light at Water Street. Turn right on Water Street and you will find Coldwater Collaborative 1 ½ blocks down on the right side of the street. We share an entrance with Artworks.
